My lifelong love of all thing’s nature started out with trees and mostly just hanging out in them on my grandad’s farm as a child.
My formal education is in forestry and arboriculture, so it was a natural transition to becoming a farmer/florist. It was my husband with a handful of zinnia seedlings and our first house in Bracebridge that turned me into a gardener. What better way to showcase your hard work than to share little zinnia bunches with your friends? It wasn’t until years later that I decided to take a basic course in floral design. It was then that I realized I had a knack for growing, curating, and arranging flowers.
In 2014, I started Near Nature, a wedding and event floral design business. A perfect fit, grower by day and florist by night. Fast forward to 2017, we purchased a house on 5 acres so I could “grow” our business. Now here we are today! I can usually found in the garden tending to your future blooms.
My philosophy has always remained the same. Fresh flowers inspired by nature. Arranged with a caring hand to showcase the purest expressions of what nature has to offer. Your once in a lifetime events are my personal specialty. Whether it be romantic or wild inspired in a formal or country setting. I love working with flowers from sowing to growing – arranging them is just the best way to share with everyone.
